The man in his 70s was stabbed in the abdomen at Monksfield Downs in Clondalkin at around 6 o'clock yesterday evening.
He was taken to Tallaght Hospital where his condition is described as not life threatening.
A woman in her early 70s was arrested and is being held at Ballyfermot Garda Station.
