Tipperary’s roads have claimed another life

The single vehicle crash happened on the R687 New Inn – Clonmel at around 1.30pm.

The driver – understood to be a 25 year old man – was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was the only occupant of the car which was heading towards Clonmel – the vehicle left the road on a bad bend on the Clonmel side of the village.

The road between Poulmucka and Barne Cross will remain closed for a number of hours as Gardaí carry out a technical examination of the scene.

Diversions have been put in place.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses who may have travelled this stretch of road between 1.15pm and 1.40pm today to contact Cahir Garda Station on 052-7445630.

This latest fatality brings to 10 the number of people killed on Tipperary's roads in 2016.

Last year the total number of fatalities in Tipperary was four.

In all 109 people who have lost their lives on Ireland's roads since the start of this year.
