The parade past the nationalist Ardoyne area following a deal between the loyal orders and residents.
The PSNI's Assistant Chief Constable Stephen Martin congratulated those involved in the agreement.
He said “positive dialogue and discussion” has played a major part in the resolution of a three year stand-off.
Alfie McCrory of Twaddell Residents' Association says it's an historic day for the area.
