Opposing views on naming of Thurles park

It comes as preparations are taking place here in Tipperary and across the country for the 100th anniversary of the Easter Rising next year.

Sinn Fein Thurles Councillor David Doran says given the Premier's strong links with the 1916 leaders its only fitting the new park should reflect this.

However others like Fianna Fail's Seamus Hanafin feels that as the park will be used by young people it should be left up to them to decide – he suggests a competition be held in the local schools to come up with a name.
