Murphy against FG leader succession proposal

A prominent member of Fine Gael in Tipperary has voiced his opposition to suggestions that the party should choose a leader designate.

The proposal came from former Minister of State Tom Hayes this week who felt the party should have someone ready to take over from Enda Kenny as party leader.

Also this week a number of party backbenchers said Enda Kenny's leadership of the party needs to be addressed between the next two budgets.

However Clonmel based Councillor Michael Murphy says Tom Hayes' proposals would do more harm than good.
