Jobs boost from local authority housing projects in Tipperary.

Its part of the €57 million allocated to tackle the housing crisis in the Premier County.

The Government has this morning confirmed funding of over €300 million for local authorities across the country to build 1,700 social housing units by 2017.

Environment and Local Government Minister Alan Kelly says the Tipperary allocation will lead to the creation of 70 jobs throughout the county.

Clonmel will see the largest building boost with 20 houses approved at a council owned site on the Glenconnor Road which will commence subject to planning approval.

10 units are to be built at Wallers Lot in Cashel with further projects in Cloughjordan, Gortataggart & Mitchell Street in Thurles, Lacey Avenue in Templemore and Kilcooley Way in Gortnahoe.
