IBEC want smaller personal injury claims

The business and employers group IBEC wants to see the amounts awarded in personal injury claims reduced.

The association says that some insurance companies are afraid to challenge compensation amounts awarded to claimants, due to the cost of legal fees.

IBEC is also appealing to the courts system to follow the awarding system set out by the Personal Injuries Board.

IBEC's Head of Infrastructure Neil Walker, says insurance companies often don't challenge compensation amounts for fear of legal challenges.
