Harry Gleeson’s remains unlikely to be located

The former governor of Mountjoy says it will be next to impossible to identify the remains of Tipperary man Harry Gleeson.

He was hanged over 70 years ago for a murder he did not commit.

Harry Gleeson is the first person in the state set to receive a posthumous pardon for his wrongful conviction for the death of Moll McCarthy near New Inn in 1940.

He's currently buried in an unmarked grave at Mountjoy in Dublin and grandnephew Anthony Maloney believes its only right his body is brought home for burial.

John Lonergan from Bansha is a former Governor of the prison – he says finding Harry Gleeson’s remains would be almost impossible as so much has changed in the layout of the prison since then.
