Justice Kevin O'Higgins investigated allegations of Garda corruption within the force.
In a statement this afternoon Noirin O Sullivan said she could not “offend the basic principles of law” regarding the confidentiality of proceedings at the O'Higgins commission.

Her response comes as questions have been raised about whether the Garda Commissioner's lawyers accused whistleblower Sergeant Maurice McCabe of malice during the probe.
