A status yellow thunderstorm warning is in place in parts of the west and midlands, including Tipp.
It runs in Connacht, Donegal, Clare, Limerick, Tipperary, Laois, Longford, Offaly and Westmeath from 3pm.
Met Éireann says there will be heavy downpours, thunderstorms and the chance of hail.
