Vote due on abortion bill

Independent TD Mick Wallace has accepted that there's a chance his controversial abortion bill may not get through the Dáil when it's voted on later today.

The bill has caused a rift in Cabinet – with Independent Ministers due to vote against the rest of the government in supporting the so-called “fatal foetal” abnormalities bill.

Last night, Enda Kenny was criticised by some of his own Fine Gael TDs for not insisting Independent Ministers vote in-line with the rest of their colleagues in Government.

However, Mick Wallace thinks the Independent TDs in Cabinet should be allowed a free vote.
