The 17 year old and a 27 year old were detained in Westmeath and Offaly this morning after a 24 year old was injured in an assault and a house fire in Rhode.
The man suffered extensive burn injuries following the fire at Cloncur on 7th September. He was also found to have suffered a number of stab wounds.
The two men are being held at Tullamore and Mullingar Garda Stations.
