Tipperary to benefit from spend on food safety

The significant budget allocation towards food safety is being seen as a way of enhancing Irelands standing on the export market and also safeguards Tipperary jobs

Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Tipperary TD Tom Hayes says the €81.5 million will be a key element of ensuring our food products for both the domestic and export markets are of the highest quality.

The Fine Gael Deputy says the food industry is a huge contributor to employment in Tipperary.

He cited the recent announcement of 100 jobs at RibWorlds new facility in Fethard, the 1,000 jobs at Goodmans across Tipperary and the milk and dairy produce from the county as examples of how important the sector is to the county.
