Tipperary International Peace Award recipient wins Nobel Peace Prize.

A teenager from Pakistan – who survived being shot in the head by the Taliban – has been announced as the joint winner of the Nobel Peace Prize.

Campaigner Malala Yousafzai has been recognised for her work to secure the right of all children to an education.

Malala was awarded the Tipperary International Peace Award last year for her campaigning.

The Indian activist Kailash Satyarthi also got the prize for highlighting the exploitation of children for financial gain.

Director of the National Women's Council of Ireland Orla O'Connor says Malala is a deserving winner describing her as an inspirational young woman.
