Tipperary farmer wins prestigious award.

Thomas Dwan from Thurles saw off competition from 14 other dairy farmers to claim the National Dairy Council prize which includes €5,000.

The Dwan farm, on the outskirts of Thurles, has 105 cows on 75 hectares and is run by Thomas and his father Edmund.

The 26 year old says it was a huge shock to be selected as the winner and that it hasn’t really sunk in yet.

Thomas says it was a huge achievement to even make the final coming out of a small co-op.
