Tipp man to be sentenced for fatal crash

17 year old Kieran Quigley from Rearcross died from head injuries he suffered in the crash which happened on the N24 Limerick to Tipperary road three years ago.

Limerick Circuit Court heard that Denis Brennan from Rearcross was driving the car when it crashed around 9 o'clock on the night of the 12th June 2012, at Grange Cross on the N24

The 28 year old had failed to heed a stop sign and hit the other car driving on the main road outbound from Limerick city.

The court was told that on the day Brennan had been on a drinking expedition around East Limerick, with his brother Sean, Kieran Quigley and another friend Michael Manning. 

Denis Brennan pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing the death of 17 year old Kieran Quigley who died from head injuries suffered in the crash.

In her victim impact statement, given to the court in February of this year, Kieran's sister Carol Wixted said the family is devastated at Kieran's death, as he was the glue that kept the family together..

Sentencing was deferred to allow for a probation report to be prepared and the case is due before Limerick Circuit Court today for sentencing.
