Tipp man convicted of sexual assault of stepdaughters.

John Joe Patterson of Kilclooney, Moyne, Co. Tipperary was found guilty on 40 separate counts following two trials at Nenagh Circuit Court, the first which lasted 5 weeks – while he pleaded guilty on the opening day of the second trial which opened this morning.

The court heard the sexual assaults on his young step daughters took place over a ten year period from September 1996 until 2006.

It started when they were just 9 years of age and continued until they turned 18.

Both victims have waved their right to anonymity so their step father could be named.

Mr Patterson has been remanded on conditional bail for sentencing on October 6th
