Strike action by ambulance workers could go ahead next week if last minute efforts to broker deal do not succeed.
Unions representing staff at the National Ambulance Service are holding talks with HSE and Department of Health today, in an effort to avert the planned strike action.
The strike, which is scheduled to take place next Wednesday, is over management's failure to deliver Labour Court recommendations on pay and compensation.
The industrial action will affect all grades of workers in the National Ambulance Service, however – if the strike goes ahead – contingency measures will be put in place.
SIPTU's Health Division Organiser Paul Bell, says the ambulance service and its support services need more resources.
