Seven men due to be sentenced for Killenaule raid

The men, all with addresses in Dublin, have pleaded guilty to one charge of aggravated burglary at the home of Mark and Emma Corcoran in Burnchurch, Killenaule in November 2013.

At Clonmel Circuit Court on Tuesday, Judge Tom Teehan heard evidence that the gang of seven men entered the Corcoran family home in Burnchurch, outside Killenaule as trespassers, armed with a shotgun, handgun and machete, in the early hours of November 21, 2013.

The court heard that the Corcoran’s were in fear of their lives and the lives of their three daughters – aged eight, six and two at the time – during the incident.

The victim impact statement of the eldest child, now 10 years old, said how she thought her “daddy was going to die” when the raiders attacked him…Mark Corcoran was assaulted during the incident, while the lives of his wife and children was also threatened.

The seven men, all with addresses in Dublin, have pleaded guilty to one charge of aggravated burglary.

A heavy Garda presence is expected at Clonmel Circuit Court this morning when Judge Tom Teehan will sentence the men…it's expected that the sentences will include a significant amount of time in jail.
