Search for plane stood down for the night

The search for debris which may be connected to the missing Malaysia Airlines flight has been stood down for the night.

Efforts are now concentrated on a stretch of the southern Indian Ocean – where two large objects were spotted by Australian satellite.

Searches for the debris – which have been described as credible sightings – will resume at first light.

Aviation expert Geoffrey Thomas says the size of the objects suggests they may well be debris from the Boeing 777
