Scrutiny on charity sector after Console investigation

12,000 bodies have so far registered with the new regulator – 8,000 of which were previously registered with Revenue.

It comes as the sector is placed under heightened scrutiny in the wake of allegations of financial irregularities at Console.

That charity is expected to be wound up this week and its services transferred to Pieta House.

Patsy McGarry, Religious Affairs Correspondent with the Irish Times says we need to address duplication in the charity sector.
