Overcrowding increase at South Tipp General

There's been a further increase in overcrowding problems at South Tipp General.

According to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation there are 32 people without a bed at the Clonmel hospital today – up from 28 yesterday.

Meanwhile the situation at University Hospital Limerick has improved slightly – there are 33 patients being cared for on trolleys around the Emergency Department or overflow areas of wards. This is down 11 from yesterday.

The worst hit today is University Hospital Galway and also Cork University Hospital – the INMO report both have 48 patients are waiting for a bed.

Nationally the numbers have risen by over 100 in the last 24 hours with 541 patients without a bed this lunchtime.
