New report shows Travellers not being properly provided for

The European Committee of Social rights, found that a number of sites are in poor condition and are badly located.

The committee also found that Ireland was in breach of an EU treaty, after Travellers were threatened with evictions, without the necessary safeguards.

At the end of last year 534 families were living in unauthorised halting sites in Ireland.

The committee also reported that over 5 and a half thousand travellers are sharing accommodation in overcrowded conditions with limited access to bathroom facilities.
