The Friends of Mount Sion group have successfully opposed two previous closure plans for the facility.

They are once again in the midst of a battle to retain the services which they say are vital to both the residents and their families.

The former Christian Brothers school on Murgasty Road in Tipp also provides much needed respite care.

HSE representatives met recently with the Friends of Mount Sion group along with family members of residents, local TDs and Councillors.

Chairperson of the Friends group Martin Quinn said the meeting was productive.
