More disruption expected to water services in Clonmel today

The Marlfield area was initally hit on Monday after a burst to a local network main and while this was repaired quickly, the water was then swiched from the Poulavenogue plant to the Glenary facility to ensure a potable supply.

But this lead to pressure problem because of the increased number of households drawing on it and this was  further compounded by damage to the pressure valve and another leak.

Today crews are carrying out step testing of the supply and it will mean disruptions in the Cahir Road area, Ballingarne, Poppyfields and Marlfield between 12 and 7

Irish Water Spokesperson Elizabeth Arnett has apologised for the problems but say they point to a greater problem with the current system
