IBAL says dumping is a major problem in our cities

IBAL claims people who refuse to pay for rubbish collections are to blame.

In general three quarters of our towns and cities are now clean to European norms –  a drop of 15 per cent on last year.

For the first time in five years Clonmel has slipped out of the top ten – it's now tied for 23rd of the 40 urban centres taking part.

However the South Tipp town remains clean to European norms.

Longford has been named as Ireland's cleanest town.

IBAL spokesman Conor Horgan says local authorities have a big role to play in keeping Ireland clean.
