Hundreds at funeral of Caitriona Lucas this morning

Flags are flying at half mast on public buildings across the country, as a mark of respect to Caitriona Lucas who was laid to rest this morning.

The 41-year-old Coastguard volunteer died during a search and recovery operation on Monday in Kilkee in County Clare when the boat she was in capsized.

The mother-of-two is the first serving member of the Irish Coastguard to lose her life while on duty.

Hundreds of people packed into the church at Liscannor in Clare for her funeral mass this morning.

Parish Priest Denis Crosby, told them she was a great spirit.
