HSE denies decision on Cashel ambulance

The HSE says that no decision has been made regarding ambulance services from Cashel.

It had been claimed that the Health Service, along with the National Ambulance Service have made the decision to reduce staff numbers from next month.

However, in a statement to Tipp FM today, the HSE says that discussions are ongoing with staff and unions regarding new rostering arrangements.

This morning, South Tipp Independent TD Mattie McGrath said that ambulance services from Our Lady's Hospital in Cashel are to be cut from next month, bringing staff numbers from 11 to 9….despite recent efforts to maintain the status quo.

Deputy McGrath criticised the move saying that the services in South Tipperary were being hit unfairly…

However, in a statement to Tipp FM this afternoon, a spokesperson for the HSE says discussions are ongoing with National Ambulance Service management, staff and trade unions in relation to new rostering arrangements.

The statement says that a significant development programme has been underway in recent years across all areas of the NAS and that it continues to modernise and reconfigure its services to ensure emergency pre hospital care is delivered in an appropriate and timely manner.
