South Tipp General operating with deficit of nurses

South Tipp General Hospital is drastically understaffed, according to the INMO.

The organisation is calling on the Government to give nurses and midwives the payrise they deserve.

Their pre budget submission states that an increase in pay would solve the problems surrounding recruitment and retention facing hospitals across the country, including South Tipp General.

Currently the hospital is operating with a deficit of 36 nurses across all departments.

Director of Industrial Relations at the INMO, Tony Fitzpatrick, said it was reckless of the HSE to let the Clonmel hospital have such a deficit of staff..
