Over 70 patients without a bed in hospitals serving Tipp

Hospitals serving the Premier county are under pressure today with over 70 people waiting for a bed.

University Hospital Limerick which serves the north of the county has 40 people without a bed today, while South Tipp General in Clonmel has 32 patients waiting. 18 of these are being cared for on trolleys and 14 in overflow areas of wards.

In all 396 people are waiting in hospitals across the country today – a 23% increase on the same day last year.
