Eircom is being criticised for a delay in repairing phone lines in parts of Tipperary.

Complaints have been made that many people have been without a service for a number of days in the Dualla – Ballinure areas.

Local Sinn Fein Councillor Martin Browne says he has been contacted by a number of families about the issue.

He claims elderly people in particular are feeling cut of from their communities and family.

He points out that many of them depend on their landline for their “panic button”

Families say they have been told by Eircom that the delay in repairs is due to the unavailability of engineers.
