Tipperary dog owners are being urged to extra vigilant following a number of incidents with dogs worrying sheep.

One farmer had his new stock chased by dogs into a river and drowned.

North Tipperary IFA Chair Tim Cullinane says that an incident of a dog worrying sheep can be extremely expensive to the farmer and cause ewes to miscarry.

He says it's vital that owners know where their dogs are at all times.
