Decrease in overcrowding numbers at South Tipp today

Daily figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation show there are 12 people on trolleys and chairs at Tipperary's main hospital – this compares to a peak of 38 last week.

However University Hospital Limerick – which serves North Tipperary – is under increased pressure with 29 patients waiting for a bed there. 16 in these are in A&E and 13 on the wards.

In all there are 437 patients on trolleys or chairs at hospitals across the country today.
