The incident happened at Barley Hill on the Clonakilty to Skibereen Road near Rosscarberry.
The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to Cork University Hospital.
A post mortem is expected to be carried out later this morning.
The driver of the car – a man in his 60's – was not injured.
The road was closed last night to facilitate a forensic examination.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.
