County Tipperary native takes up position as Judge

Former state solicitor for Tipperary Gerard O'Brien has been officially appointed as Judge of the Circuit Court.

The Thurles native was called to the bench late last year and yesterday he formally took up the position.

Mr O’Brien who qualified with a law degree initially worked as a schoolteacher in Dublin before returning to Tipperary and established a law practice in 2006 – 6 years later he was appointed as State Solicitor for North Tipperary.
