Councillors in Nenagh set sights for tourist funding

Councillors in Nenagh are set to mount pressure on Government to provide funding to market the Lough Derg area to tourists.

There's concern that the entire 'Lakelands' area, which includes the lake and the River Shannon, falls between two stools when it comes to tourists as it's not on the Wild Atlantic Way or part of Ireland's Ancient East.

Elected members of the Nenagh district have vowed to bring the fight for funding to the Tourism Minister Shane Ross and Failte Ireland.

Cathaoirleach of the Municipal area Phyl Bugler says it's very unfair that the lakes have been left out.
