Council urged to take more responsibility for graveyard maintenance

It's claimed the responsibility for their upkeep has been left in many areas to local community groups.

Independent Councillor Micheál Lowry raised the issue at this months meeting of the Templemore – Thurles Municipal District.

He says while the voluntary groups are doing a great job the onus should be on the local authority to ensure the public are safe when visiting a graveyard.
