Car sales back to 2009 levels.

Figures from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry show that car sales for the first 10 months of this year are up significantly on predictions.

The Premier County has sold the second highest number of cars outside of the cities of Dublin, Cork, Galway and Limerick, with 2,748 new registrations since January, representing 2.89% of all new vehicles on the roads.

Waterford has 2,412 new registrations while Kilkenny has 1,883, while County Kildare has over 3,800 cars sold.

Nationally, there has been an increase of 30% on new car sales from the same period last year with over 95,000 sold – the highest registration figure since 2009.

The most popular models are the Volkswagen Golf, Nissan Qashqai, Ford Focus and Ford Fiesta.

Commercial and Heavy Good Vehicles sales figures are also up on 2013.
