Calls for better consistency over child care orders

The Child Care Law Reporting Project says there are “striking” and “huge variations” in how the matters are dealt with between the services – with some children removed from their families for minor parental drug use – while some orders are rejected in spite of “powerful” evidence. 

Children’s Minister James Reilly says taking children into state care is a “last resort” he says a more consistent and uniform approach should be introduced.
