Bourke back in Fianna Fáil party

Carrick on Suir Independent representative Kieran Bourke has been accepted back into the party group on the local authority – however it's understood there was some opposition to the move.

He had stepped down from Fianna Fáil in 2014 ahead of the last local elections after failing to secure a nomination to run for the party.

The former Mayor of Carrick recently submitted an application to return to the party which was accepted at national level.

Last night the ten Fianna Fáil members on Tipperary County Council met to decide on whether or not he would come under the party whip on the local authority.

It's understood the decision to welcome him back on board was by the slimmest of margins – however speaking to Fran Curry on Tipp Today Fianna Fáil whip Roger Kennedy refused to be drawn on the issue.
