ASTI meets Department for last ditch talks

Time is running out for negotiations between secondary teachers and the Department of Education before Thursday’s strike.

Members of the ASTI have resumed talks with Department of Education Officials this morning, and are due to continue them tomorrow.

But hundreds of schools are set to close on Thursday unless progress is made on the issue of pay for newer entrants to the profession.

President of the ASTI Ed Byrne says politicians don’t seem to care about equality.
