16 people treated for injuries after plane turbulence

Three children are said to be among 16 people injured when a United Airlines plane struck severe turbulence approaching Ireland overnight.

They were all taken to University Hospital Limerick following an emergency landing at Shannon Airport this morning.

The majority have since been discharged from hospital and are expected to continue on their journey to the UK later today.

Reporter David Raleigh says several people suffered head injuries when the plane hit a wind pocket.
