16 million euro for Tipp roads in 2015

The funding, from the Department of Transport is broken down into 13.9 million for improvements and 2.4 million for maintenance works. 

For the first time, funding for regional and local roads in the Premier County has been allocated to the one authority. 

A total of 16.34 million euro will be used for improvements and maintenance of roads around Tipperary

Several specific projects have been granted individual allocations including Lismolin Bridge with 418 thousand euro and the upgrade for the Latteragh road which gets 150 thousand. 

The bulk of the funding, 8.6 million will be used for restoration improvements, while the council's discretionary grant is just over 4 million euro. 

Bridge Rehabilitation has been allocated 333 thousand euro while low cost safety improvement works has been given 299 thousand. 

For maintenance work, 2.4 million has been granted by the Department of Transport for the county. 

The monies have been welcomed by Fine Gael TD Noel Coonan who says it will add significantly to road safety in Tipperary and further improve the local and regional roads across the county.
