Calls for council to deal with river algae in Thurles

Concerns are being raised over the reappearance of extensive algae bloom in the River Suir in Thurles.

The green slime type bacteria is covering much of the slow running water in the centre of the town and can reduce the ability of fish and other aquatic life to find food.

Several local representatives have repeated called on the local authority to deal with the issue and Cllr Jim Ryan is disappointed that the algae is back
