There has been a slight drop in the number of new cars sold in the Premier county in the first seven months of this year.

According to the Society of the Irish Motor Industry 3,049 new cars were registered in the county. This is down from 3,239 for the same period last year. This represents a 5.9 percent reduction on 2017.

This is in line with the national trend where overall there has been a 4 percent reduction on the previous year.

The new registerations in Tipperary account for 2.7 percent of the overall new cars sold in the country.

Volkswagen is the top selling brand in the country followed by Toyota, Hyundai, Ford and Nissan.
