Plans lodged for M8 service area expansion

Topaz Energy Limited has submitted plans to Tipperary County Council for the redevelopment of their facility on the M8 in Cashel.

Having originally opened at Wallers Lot in Cashel in mid 2011, Topaz is now planning a significant extension to the motorway services area.

The proposals include an extension to the existing service station building to incorporate 24 hour public toilets and shower facilities.

Additional seating would be provided for the McDonalds restaurant with the construction of a 66 square metre extension.

The planning application currently before Tipperary County Council also includes a major expansion of the parking facilities at the Motorway Services Area at Junction 8.

The existing parking on the Topaz owned site is to be rearranged to incorporate spaces for 86 cars, 8 coaches, 20 HGV's, 8 motorcycles and 6 bicycle stands.

A new children's play area and refuse areas are also planned for the site.
