Justice Minister speaks out on Garda College

An assurance has been given that the Garda Training College in Templemore will continue as a primary training centre.

While the recruitment of new Gardai has been frozen, due to the Government embargo, the Justice Minister Alan Shatter says the facility will continue to be used for training for Gardai, as well as for training for the Garda reserves.

The Minister also said that the maximum amount of resources are being made available to the Gardai.

That’s despite criticism of an aging fleet and speculation regarding the closure of many rural stations.
