Cahir planning approval appealed.

An appeal has been lodged against the granting of permission for a service station, retail outlet and cafe near Cahir.

Tipperary County Council recently gave the go-ahead for the development near Junction 11 off the M8.

The site in question at Scartnaglorane a few kilometres west of Cahir has been the subject of a number of planning applications in recent years for various forms of service area, truck stop and retail outlet.

The local authority recently granted permission to John O'Leary for the latest application to develop the area.

The conditional approval was for 8 fuel pumps and a forecourt building incorporating retail shop space, a cafe/take away food area and an off licence.

Permission was also given for 18 parking spaces for heavy goods vehicles & buses and 35 car spaces.

However opposition to the granting of planning approval has now been lodged with An Bord Pleanala.

Topaz Energy Group Limited are seeking to have the permission overturned – a decision is due from the state planning appeals board by the end of March next year.
