Gardai say the 55 year old was the only occupant of the bungalow in Ballyvaughan in the north of the county when the blaze broke out at around 7 o'clock last night.
The cause of the fire is not yet known – but it's not being treated as suspicious.
A technical examination of the scene is taking place.
