Woman in custody in connection with Roscrea stabbing

A woman in her 40s remains in Garda custody this morning in connection with a fatal stabbing in Roscrea. 

The victim, a man also in his 40's, was found in the early hours of yesterday morning. 

This stabbing happened at The Maltings apartment complex in the centre of Roscrea. 

Emergency services were called to the scene around half two yesterday morning, when they arrived they found a man in his 40's with stab wounds…he was pronounced dead at the scene. 

It's understood the man is originally from Eastern Europe. 

A woman, also in her 40s and Eastern European, was arrested in Roscrea a short time later and she is currently being questioned at Nenagh Garda Station. 

The man's body was taken to University Hospital in Limerick yesterday afternoon where a post mortem examination was due to take place. 

A forensic examination of the scene in Roscrea has also been carried out. 

Locals in Roscrea say they're shocked by the fatal stabbing…describing the area around the apartment complex as generally quiet.
